Night Dresses

How do I sell prom dresses to High School students?

I have 100 beautiful prom dresses ($175-$350). I would like to sell them to HS students without going through craigslist.com or eBay or any online site. I do not have a store. Any suggestions for reaching HS girls and their parents?

  1. Hmm, good idea never thought about that as an investment opportunity. Anyways, many schools have their school newspapers, you will have to pay a small fee to make an advertisment there, so just go around your local schools and set this up. Also, I would ask whoever is in charge to place a banner in the cafeteria so that everyone can see (offer the school some $$).
  2. there is a company that does something like this.. they sell used prom clothing... i beleive that they have a large inventory (as to meet the needs of different color/s for the various schools.. you may want to advertise to buy used clothing and then get a feel for the time and places that it would take to sell /rent your items, call the local and statewide schools and test market. your items could go country wide in no time. watch your overhead (shi[pping/ storage/cleaning ect and you should do well) plus you will be adding some much needed competition to that market
  3. Yes. Call the local PTO at high schools near you. Ask to have a fashion show, and get some of the daughters of the PTO members to volunteer as models. Do a runway show at nightl, at the school, and offer small refreshments--you can ask them to prepare the refreshments, and the PTO can sell them. Offer to give the PTO 10% of your sales. Advise them that you will be happy to have an intermission where they can do a 50/50 raffle. They can even charge a small entry fee and sell tickets in advance. You will be able to write off your 10% "commission" as a charitable contribution, and you can have a really fun, profitable event. Be sure to do this well in advance of Prom season. Plan the advertising with the PTO well in advance. Offer to split the cost of advertising. Put it in the local paper, post it on the internet, do flyers. It can be a blast.
  4. try to get it in the Morning Announcements at your high school just give them some info like i have 100 prom dresses tell them the price and there you go if you would like mor people to know ask your mom of friends to tell a few people.
