Where should I look for prom dresses in Manhattan?

My friend and I are going to Manhattan for the day to look for prom dresses. I want to use my time wisely and not just wander through stores aimlessly. I have a $500 dollar budget and looking for people's favorite stores so I can map out where to shop. Thanks a lot!

1. look all around 7th avenue and you can find some great dress shops! 35th street and 7th avenue in particular. im not sure of the name of the store. Bloomingdales in Manhattan has gorgeous dresses!
