how do you get rid of cigarette smoke odor on formal dresses? ?
A friend offered to alter the girls formal dresses for the wedding. She allows smoking in her home. I'm worried the dresses will smell like smoke. All the girls are smoke free. Any suggestions? I can't spray febreeze on them because I worry it will stain them.

- Wash them.
- Go to the dry cleaners and get it deeply cleaned ,store it in a plastic bag so the smoky smell can't go on the dress.
- what a horrible smell!.. purchase some dryer sheets and do the following Step1 Place garment in the dryer. Place one or more dryer sheets inside of dryer according to strength of smoke smell, using more dryer sheets for a stronger smoke smell. Turn on the dryer. Step2 Tumble garment with dryer sheets for about one minute. Take out and smell. If the smoke smell is still there repeat step #1. if this fails get them dry cleaned
- You could try Febreeze on the inside of one of the dresses (or anywhere it won't show much), to see if it will stain the fabric, and then use it. If you have the time, hang the dresses outside, ideally in the sun, and the smell will fade. Just make sure to keep them away from the rain! As a last ditch resort, spray a little perfume on the top of the dresses so not as much smoke smell will get to whomever is wearing them.
- spray it down with febreeze for fabrics
- spray it with perfume and it wont stain it.promise.and if you are bringing a purse put the perfume in your bag and if anybody smokes then when you go to the bathroom you can put it on the dress.
