Night Dresses

Are you allowed to wear a t-shirt during labour..or your own night gown?

Ive heard somewhere that you can bring your own night gown...but i was wondering if thats true in canada. And are there any rules about bringing your own..like has to be a certain length orr anything?

  1. its would be pretty stupid if you couldnt wear what ever the hell you wanted...
  2. Well, I'm in Australia, so it may be different there, but we are actually requested to bring something to wear for the birth. I'm sure they would allow you to wear whatever you feel comfortable in, I can't imagine anyone telling you off and forcing you to wear some horrible paper thing if you have brought your own. Just keep in mind that it *may* get ruined..so I wouldn't buy anything fancy for the occasion lol, and if you plan to breastfeed soon after birth, you will want something with buttons. Something loose and comfortable. I bought a cheap button up men's shirt that was loose and long enough to cover everything if I wanted to walk around in it - I don't think they'd be worried about the length though, seeing as everyone is pretty much gonna be looking under it all day anyways :D (you might be able to nick an old shirt of your partner's, but mine is thinner than me lol - especially pregnant) I would bring it up at your next check-up, someone should be able to tell you, but I wouldn't think it would be a problem (besides, they'd be saving resources, you would think they'd have to like that!)
  3. I have no idea, but you should probably talk to your doctor beforehand if you are worried.
  4. Hi, when I was in labour I had my bikinis (swimmers) on, that way I didn't feel completely naked!!! I am sure that there would be no rule on what you have to wear, maybe if you had to have a C Section, you may have to wear their special gown... Good Luck!!! :-)
  5. The hopital that I used for delivery made me wear theirs. UGHHH!!! Aren't they hideous? They really are embarrassing, even if all the other girls are wearing them too. Call your OB floor and ask.. its worth a try, because as uncomfortable as you will feel already you dont need anything to make you feel worse.
  6. you can wear you own night gown
  7. Good God! If your hospital has rules on what you can wear when you're pushing a baby out, I pity you. Yes, you should be able to wear whatever you want (within reason).
  8. Here in Australia you can where what ever you feel comfortable in.... ask at your next check up... good luck...
  9. I don't thik you'll have much to worry about in the labour room as you'll be practically butt naked with your legs in the air.Believe me,leave your dignity at the door in there!! But show some decorum in the ward, remember, you'll be sharing with other women, who will have lots of visitors, you'll still be bleeding,so big pants and a decent length gown are a must imo.
  10. It seems to depend on each hospitals policy, you will need to ask the hospital.
  11. I am in Canada...you can wear your own, but be prepared for it to gt wrecked. You are better off using the hospital ones, and then wearing your own after you have cleaned up and had a wash.
