Does anyone know any good websites that sell nice dresses? It's for a summer ball, but i want a dress just above the knee and something classy - not too puffy or frilly, i can spend up to £200 on it. I've looked at Lipsy, Warehouse, All Saints, French Connection, Urban Outfitters, Ted Baker and Asos and i can't find anything that particularly 'grabs me'. So any other site or designer you can add to that list would be great cause i can't think of anymore! I'm 18, slim build and average height if that helps...thankyou!
How much to spend on a dress as a wedding guest? My wife is looking at designer labels and finding "deals" for several hundred dollars. I see nice summer dresses (think July in Iowa) at ae.com and other such sites for a lot less. Am I a prude? This is my cousin (never see) and my wife has never met, we obviously want to look nice but I don't get the money.
Searching for wedding dress online, what are good sites? Im looking for a good website that has traditional, long, white dresses with a lot of beading and details. Summer wedding, probably outside. Ive googled "wedding dresses" and "wedding gowns" but didnt come up with anything that caught my eye. I am not looking for "designer" dresses that cost thousands. Anyone have a good site to check out?
Where can I find bridesmaids dresses that match the style of my wedding? My bridesmaids and I are having a bit of a difficult time. I purchased this dress http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Floral-Burnout-Chiffon-Gown-859695D_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns for my outdoor spring wedding. I love it's simply, understated and elegant feel. However we can't find bridesmaids dresses that "feel" right with it. They are all far too dressy or far too casual. We're looking for something simple, knee length, light, comfortable and romantic looking that compliments my dress as well as makes my girls feel beautiful(I'd hate it if my girls didn't feel beautiful) It can be from any bridal designer as long as it's reasonably priced. Nothing over $200 but preferably closer to $100. We'd even be willing to do a really nice summer dress.
Abercrombie Clothes, makeup or Beautiful Designer dress? i have been given 190 dollars for my birthday and i reallyy reallyy reallyyy reallyy want this BEAUTIFUL designer dress that is like $189 dollars. but that's all the money my parents are giving me this summer and i highly doubt they will buy this dress for me. i have a crap load of abercrombie and hollister clothes. about 10 tees and 8 tanks/cami's. i just don't have any shorts. i have like one pair of yellow shorts and their yellow plaid. and i need some new mascara and an eyeliner pencil sharperner. cause i'm out of mascara
Wedding dresses Sale? Hi all, I live in the UK and am getting married in the summer, I have heard that there is a cheap wedding dress sale that sells all designer wedding dresses in February in Bristol, does anyone know what this event is called, or where I can find designer wedding dresses that are on sale to try on. Thanks,
Does anyone have suggestions for where to buy a white, flow-y, summer dress? I want a white mini dress, something made of kind of sheer material with short sleeves. Like this, but not designer: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1118/539745559_dfba475135_o.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blogs.nypost.com/fashion/archives/2007/06/the_great_white.html&h=348&w=271&sz=9&hl=en&start=17&um=1&tbnid=gMwWXL3r2-LxmM:&tbnh=120&tbnw=93&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlindsay%2Blohan%2Bgeorgia%2Brule%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den or something like Lindsay Lohan wore in Georgia Rule: http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/8492/194zj.png or something kind of like this, but white and more casual: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=dresses&product%5Fid=2050064136&Page=1 as cheap as possible would be great
Dress for a summer wedding? Going to a summer wedding and I really have my eye on this coast dress http://www.coast-stores.com/fcp/product/-/ALLDresses/Lupin-Bow-Dress/2224650460 I love the colour and I LOVE the bow,AND I LOVE THIS DRESS! but as it's from coast and coast is the first shop wedding guests would shop in im a little reluctant because its not like its a black dress no one would notice if someone had as well, its bright pink, with a bow! Where can I find an inexpensive dress to wear at wedding? YELLOW or pink? I need a pastel-colored dress to wear at a wedding this August. I am lean figured and would love to buy a designer dress (never could afford one) - but I cannot spend more than $150 - I want something similar to this in TIGHTNESS and length (2nd one in 2nd row): http://www.viawoman.com/2009/06/20/dresses-summer-2010-herve-leger/#comment-340 SOMETHING EXACTLY LIKE THIS BUT CHEAPERRRRR - send me links/websites/anything!
I need a fantastic wedding dress designer in Washington State? Hey ladies.. I'm getting married next summer and I love the Melissa Sweet Lia wedding dress but i want to make some changes. Sense the dress runs for $5,000 itself, not including all my alterations i would really love to just have one made. I like in Yakima but am willing to go to Seattle or tri-cities area to see a designer. I see lots on line but it's such a big deal i would love to be referred to someone but someone who had a great experience. So my question is does anyone know someone or you yourself used a wedding dress maker in my area? good or bad storys welcome. Thanks in advance :)
What's going to be in fashion in summer 08/09? Just wondering what sort of fashion will be out for teens (girls) this summer? I can't afford the expensive designer stuff. I want something to suit me but i'm not too sure how to dress and what to mix and match, or what colours suit me... I am tall, slim, have olive skin & brown hair. My style is casual and I live in NZ. Usually I shop at places like jayjays, glassons, cotton on, etc.
What would you pay for these designer Flip Flops and Wedges? Hi, I am currently building a website online for a footwear and fashion acessory boutique out of my home. I recently bought a small case of dressy sequined flip flops by FOXY GIRL as well as a case of sequined/beaded cork wedges by BAMBOO. My website is not complete yet, but I am selling on eBay. I am finding that they are not selling as well since July, probably because we're well into the summer season. Anyway, I just wanted to ask the girls out there who love their shoes, what would you pay for a high-quality, cute pair of dress flip flops as well as wedges as described. Like what would be a reasonable, fair price to you? Thanks for your help. :)
Should I mess with my offices super casual dress code? I just was promoted and will be leaving the Call Center in California I manage to take over an operation in Utah. Instead of 80 employees on a shift, I am not responsible for up to 350 on the floor at peak times. Now because we don't make face to face with the customers, there is usually a very relaxed atmosphere, but I was surprised when I visited my new office to find about 1/3 of the associates shoeless. Sometime in the past a prior manager interpreted "no bare feet" to mean if you had socks on it was OK. Even 2 of my lead supervisors spent the day they met me (their new boss) in socks. In my last office, my wardrobe varied from business wear, to summer dresses to maybe designer jeans three of four times a month. I am torn between 3 different tactics, and wondered how you would feel if you worked there. Would you respect me more if I A---Started requiring shoes B---Said nothing C---Went out and bought some nice socks and joined them as one of the team. I cant see myself wearing white anklets and shorts like some of the people there did, but I would get some dark or even bright colors. I don't think I shopped for socks in years, so I have no idea what is out there.
What's in style in women's fashion in Greece this summer? I am a 50 year old lady who dresses well but refuses to buy too many expensive designer things, and I would like to know about styles, casual, beach and for bouzoukia in Greece this summer. I will also be attending a baptism. I already have city shorts with crossover tops, white skirts, black and white prints for top and bottom, espadrilles, big sunglasses and lots of head scarves and headbands. What else? Is there a website with magazine pictures of fashion? I am not going to buy a whole new wardrobe, but a few key pieces would be OK. I am not fat, but not skinny like a 25-year old either, short and naturally blonde (ok, grey, these days!!!).
Who designed Summer Roberts Wedding Dress on The OC Series finale episode "The End's Not Near, It's Here"? I need any information on the wedding dress that OC character Summer Roberts/ Actress Rachel Bilson wore on the series finale episode "the end's not near, it's here" when she married OC character Seth Cohen/ Actor Adam Brody. I am in search of a dress to wear for a deubutante and am curious if this dress is possible to buy in retail stores. If anyone has any information it would be incrediably helpful. The main detail however i need is who is the designer. Thanks for the help!
Bargain hunters come forth and help me find the perfect designer prom dress!? hi i live in the uk and am obsessed with designer clothes. only problem is of course, i can't afford it! but normally i can buy a few vivienne westwood/mcq/comme des garcons clothes when they're in the sale or whatever. prom is this summer, and i would just love a really unique beautiful dress to go in. i've tried looking on sites like yoox and my-wardrobe, but they don't seem to have anything suitable for prom in my price range (no more than £200 really). i have quite pale skin but dark hair, so i think a darker colour like navy or violet would be best, but any suggestions would be great! so if anyone has any ideas of where i can buy a designer prom dress at a bargain price, let me know. or an actual dress they think would look good. i'm a uk size 8 btw. online and shops are great thanks. (and please no one leave comments how i'm superficial or looking for a perfect dress at an impossible dress - just try to help:p) thankyou xx
How do I woik with a difficult female co-worker who acts like a "high class red neck?"? I am the new girl in the office with six new female co-workers, five of them are professional, helpful, courteous, and treat me as an equal. All our jobs are clearly defined, so there is no confusion about who is doing what. However, female #6 appears to be "the one to cop an attitude." For lack of a better way to describe her, she is abrasive, condescending, opinionated to the point of being argumentative and shows no class or professionalism in her demeanor. Even though she drives a hummer, dresses with designer clothes and jewelry, and talks about trips to the summer house, or her "upscale lifestyle", she just acts like a "high-class redneck". She acts like someone who has not had an education or a lesson or two in charm school. I will be working with her on cases (our bosses will be working together often) and I do really want to have a good working relationship with her. I don't want to offend her, just work with her. Suggestions?
What is easiest way to get elements of a designer wedding dress custom-made in size 0? My cousin from France has this idea to have some elements of a designer wedding dress incorporated into a cheaper alternative. She likes the dress that Sassi Holford designed for a recent Royal Wedding but don't have $4,000. My wife loved the wedding dress she got from this online store (they custom fit brides) so she's suggesting this dress at a fraction of the cost. http://www.kekopeanstitches.com/mermaid-wedding-gown.html Simone is having a late summer/fall wedding on a Caribbean island so we need to shop online as the wedding is being planned long distance using the Internet. We want online stores that can custom fit brides since all the planning is being done online.
Who's the designer of the wedding dress on the cover of the Fall 2008 issue of Orange Coast Weddings mag? and which style or in which collection is the dress (e.g., Summer 2009)? and which style or in which collection is the dress (e.g., Summer 2009)? Southern California stores carry Orange Coast Weddings magazine, but I live in New England and do not have access to the magazine. Here's a digital image of the cover for the Fall 2008 issue of Orange Coast Weddings magazine: http://aboutdetailsdetails.com/blog/wp-content/gallery/08-26-08/OC1.jpg

When i was at My GF's house i saw her mums work clothes and it was expensive stuff- i wear Designer sometimes but only casual. My Dad said he would pay for anything i wanted as i work for him during school holidays. i am not sure if they mean something like this: http://store.dolcegabbana.com/item/store/DG/tskay/436A8784/rr/1/cod10/38137645WU/areaid//sts/ (with the trousers) and a coat like this: http://store.dolcegabbana.com/item/store/DG/tskay/436A8784/rr/1/cod10/41143605EO/areaid//sts/ and watches and usall assecries. or they mean smart causal like this: http://www.gucci.com/uk/uk-english/uk/spring-summer-10/mens-ready-to-wear/#224793-1146292-232188Z28331377 with: http://www.fredperry.com/limited-edition/men/shirts/original-twin-tipped-fred-perry-shirt.html and jeans from moshino http://www.moschinoboutique.com/item/store/MOSCHINO/tskay/D1A4DD67/rr/1/cod10/42140556PR/areaid//sts//mm/208

Where could I buy a 3.1 Phillip Lim dress from a past season? Well I was looking through some old fashion magazines and I found a beautiful Phillip Lim dress from Spring/Summer 2008 amongst other items of clothing. Is it possible to buy "designer" (I hate that word) from past seasons? If so, where? Would it do me any good to ring up the company? I don't think we're from the same country... Can we narrow it down to online stores specifically?
What dress was Buffy Summers wearing on the last episode of season 1? I am looking to find an exact, or ALMOST exact identical dress as the one Buffy Summers was wearing on the very last episode of season 1. If I can buy it online, that would be great. Name of designer would be helpful too. I am also looking for the shoes she wore as well. Any shoes that look exactly like it or close enough? Must be same color too. If anyone knows, please let me know. -Thanks!
Where can I find designer clothes for children on-line? Im looking for stores online that sell designer clothes for girls between sizes 6 & 16. Im looking for designers like... Juicy Couture Burberry Poesia Hanbok Dolce & Gabbana && and things of the simular. They dont have to be discounted or anything. Regular price is fine. I've already checked Neiman Marcus' website but nothing really striked my interest. Im shopping for dresses for my daughters. They were invited to some kind of end of the school year-summer-social event thingy (???). Im open to any suggestions and websites! Thanx in advance!
Summer fashion help please? It is finally getting nice & hot in the UK and i am going shopping in the next week or so with my mum to get some new clothes for the summer. At the moment i only have jeans & t shirts & leggins, but nothing really fashionable. I really want to look on trend this summer, yes i know i should be 'individual' but i really like all the floral & stuff this year! So can anyone give me some links to clothes i could look at/try on/buy when i go shopping? I find i have to actually try things on and cant just order them online. I want some skirts/tops anything summery really, but im not a big fan of dresses. oh, and SHOES! I cant afford to spend like loads, so i don't want all the top end designer stuff. Im 16, about 5'3ish (yes, im short for a 16 year old!) if that helps? Thanks, please post links to clothes & stuff
Ballet Gala Dresses :)? Hi! I go to this ballet place and sometime in the futur they're (we're) going to have some gala... what should I wear? :S I REALLY love Valentino, but that is really out of my price range... :( I really like all the dresses that the girls on Gossip Girl wear, but I'm guessing that those dresses are also out of my range... also pretty sad :( The reason that all these dresses are out of my price range is: 1) The designers are huge... *ugh, it's so hard liking the best designers :P 2) My parents spend ALL their money on my ballet... it's a few thousand dollars :( So... any ideas? Please give me some helpful suggestions... :) Thanks in advance. :) P.S. I'm tall for my age, but then again, I am 12 but by the time we have the gala I'll be 13. I'm almost 5'4. I do have a summer job and I'm currently saving for the dress. By the end of summer I will have made 200$ And should I wear some subtle makeup? Any ideas? I know I'm gonna wear this golden necklace, it has a ballet slipper on it :) I do pointes so it's still pretty expensive, and I'm pretty underaged for a part time job so I can only work during summer. thanks anyway
Should I be worry that my son changed so much since last summer? He never really like to dress neatly or take fashion seriously, but now he wears expensive designer jeans, buttoned shirt or solid color sweater with a sport or leather jacket. He now smokes cigars and wear expensive cologne. He basically look like a model now. He also seems to not being able to keep tracks of any girls he is talking to and doesn't know if he's in relationship or not. He never dress up or smoke when he moved out to attend college. He has been gone since last summer, now he come back like this. Is something going on with him? I find this odd, should I be suspicous?
Sun dresses? Please help!? Since, Spring is here and summer is coming, I love wearing sun dresses :] But I just can't find any cute ones :p I love designers, and I willing to spend about $110 or less. Bridesmaid dress help?
How would you describe my style? I shop at Old Navy, Nordstrom, Victoria's Secret, and Sanrio. My fave designers are Juicy Couture and Roxy. In summer, I wear sundresses, tank tops, shorts, and flip-flops. In winter, I wear my school uniform, trench coats, sweater dresses, sweaters, leggings, skinny jeans, and boots. In spring, I wear my school uniform, dresses, and flats. In fall, I pretty much wear the same thing as in spring. And I wear Hello Kitty all year round!
New York City Broadway: Formal or semi-formal dress? I feel silly asking a question I should probably know the answer to, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I'm no stranger to theater performances: in the last five years, I've seen upwards of 14 operas and 3 ballets. But I live in Houston, and our theater district--while very good--isn't "world renowned". I'm vacationing in NYC this summer and I've purchased tickets to a broadway. My problem is that I don't know how to dress! In the past, I've always felt safe wearing semi-formal outfits like a skirt or blouse with some jewelry or fancy shoes. But there are the select few I've seen (in Houston) who arrive decked out in gems and designer dresses. Should I wear a formal dress to this broadway in New York? Or would it be safe to stay with my traditional semi-formal outfits? I wouldn't need to buy new clothes for either scenario--I'd just reuse outfits I already own, so money isn't an object for this. Thanks for your help!
Why do so many women dress like guys? Its the middle of summer and I see women wearing jeans and t-shirt, and thats not so bad. At the office is the worst. They think they have to dress like a man to compete with a man. It's ironic that the thing women love to do (shop) is the thing that they are getting scammed at. Some of those designers need a labotomy. Take it from a guy, guys love women that look and act like women. Even gay women like women to look and act like women. I am sure most of you will prove my theory wrong but I am a man that dresses like a man so it ain't my problem anyway, well except that your man-outfits aren't easy on the eyes.
What to do????? Okay, just looking for some good advice, not criticism. My brother is engaged to a girl who has been married twice already. They are planning a huge bash next summer (250+ to the wedding and reception). They have asked me to stand up in teh wedding, but I do not agree with it and haven't really made my decision yet. She is planning to fly to Miami to have a designer dress made and have booked a $25,000 reception. This is her 3rd marriage (who knows how long its going to last) and I feel like they are getting married because both of them were lonely. My brother makes good money and I feel like she is taking advantage of it. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Its hard to stand by and watch my brother be used. I feel like he is honestly blind to all of her games.
remake bridal gowns? I will be getting married next summer on the beach in Islamadora, Fl and have found my dream dress, unfortunately I I cant afford the high price of the designer, and also would like the dress in a short cocktail length, does anyone know a website that remakes high-end designer dresses for less? ps. This is the link to the gown that I love. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280248673522
I plan to visit in Paris end of this Summer, I am confuse which clothes to wear and afraid of thieves......? Are French people friendly? as I`ve heared they are arrogant because they really speak only French and not other languages and eventhough they can speak English but they dont. How true is it. I am a 1st timer going to Paris which what kind of clothes I wear. Are Pariser particular of elegant or great-looking attire something very stunning? I know they are very famous of fashion and glamour as I buy often French Designer wardrobe as I am confuse how to dressed in a Pariser style. I am afraid also the thieves and pickpocketers. Might be wrong section BUT anyone watch The View? Maternity clothing Q for tiny women.? Elisabeth Hasselback always wears cute clothes but I LOVE most everything she's been wearing during her current pregnancy (she def. got big fast if she's really due in Aug.). I'm not sure that they all are actually maternity clothes but some, at least, probably are. I'm sure it's super expensive stuff but does anyone happen to know maternity brands well and how to spot them (like I know kids brands)? Any idea on what labels she's wearing? I did some searches on Ebay for cute maternity clothing in really small sizes and came up with pretty much nothing. I bought a couple of Old Navy & Gap items and they are both big on me (upper body- which isn't going to change)...even though they are XXS and XS. I'm super tiny but have a big bust- pre pregnancy. Any suggestions on brands for someone small like me? I mean, I can wear kids clothing...especially jeans (I buy a lot of my designer denim at Nordy's in the Kids dept.). I'll be at my biggest during summer but I'll probably carry like I carried my 1st...small (just a little basketball tummy). Most likely, I could probably get away with non-maternity clothing by doing empire waist tops (which I wear a lot of anyway) or summer dresses in my fav. brands like Free People. Not sure what I'll do about pants/capris though??? Suggestions on maternity brands for tiny ladies? Old Navy is the only one I know of. Thanks!! =)
What are some websites where I can get BIG, HUGE purses.? I want to look and get a new purse and i like them HUGE. So I wanted to know of some websites where I can look at them and shop around and see, because I tried to look but couldn't find any. All I found where websites that were too expensive or the designer site. :(( OHH ! and and if you know of any other website where they have nice cute summer dresses for teens please let me know :)) ! Thank You ! I already tried ebay. Nothing really caught my attention there. :(

What to wear under a very very tight dress? : /? I've bought this gorgeous prom dress for the summer prom but It's very tight and really clings to my body. The problem is I'm quite thin and my hips bones stick out slightly which doesn't look very nice. The back of the dress is very low so I can't wear one of those body shaping things but I really want something that will smooth over my hips bones so they're not so visible. Does anyone have any ideas or what i can buy to wear under my dress? Thanks p.s. this is a picture of the dress (except the one I bought is red) http://www.the-blackberry.com/product/588/black_v_back_long_evening_gown_designer_prom_dress_with_black_silver_sequins no, it's far too tight to wear nothing. : / ans ever so slightly see through as well.

(i know they are all so different) accessories, nail polish, and perfume = a plus :] stores i cant stand: HOT TOPIC! (except for the nail polish), walmart, limited too(and justice...i dont even fit into those clothes so idky people get me stuff from there. just thought i'd cover that.) i'll wear dresses, skirts, jeans, shorts, tanks, tshirts, sweatshirts, sweaters - pretty much anything! actually im 17 not 12 so yeah thanks.
How do you find sample dress sales? Hello! I'm planning my wedding for next summer (2009) was wondering if anyone has tips on finding sample dress sales? I have heard so much about how you can get a beautiful dress for much less at a sample sale, but I'm just not sure how one finds such sales! If it makes any difference, I live in Northern Ohio, but could travel anywhere in ohio if needed. Also, I'm not looking for a $10,000 designer dress - I'm thinking more along the lines of around $1500 or less for my dress. Please, any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!
Where can I find THIS wedding dress...? I am trying to locate the designer or where to buy the wedding dress photographed in the Summer 2009 edition of theknot.com magazine, page 211. It is the 1st dress, large photograph on the left hand side. Can anyone please help me out? Even suggest dresses similar to that one.
College worries? My GPA is a 3.1, I think. It may have gone up since then(1 semester ago). What is this numerically? It doesn't sound very good. :(. I'm only a junior, so I can bring that up next year. But will the first semester of my senior year make a difference? When are applications sent in? I'm taking an AP class first semester, as well as senior project, where I will be designing and sewing prom dresses for some people as my project. I want to be a costume designer, this summer I am going to volunteer at a local theatre to help in the costume department. I have also worked on costumes for my highschool plays and taken theatre arts class. I am going to be making prom dresses for my senior project. Is there any thing else I could do? I'll also have taken 5 french credits(by second semester), an extra english credit and all other requirements. One last question: Is 3.1 high enough to get into a college for fashion/costume design? hf? thanks for your help, sorry I didn't give you a chance to answer before I gave a thumbs down... I'm a little panicked and rushed right now.

I don't think I shopped for socks in years, so I have no idea what is out there.
how does the article make distinction between firms? use these distionctions to analyze and gain insights? Milan -- When Italian fashion house Gianni Versace SpA recently threw a cocktail party in the courtyard of its 16th-century palazzo to promote its latest creations, designer Donatella Versace ducked out of the soiree early, flanked by bodyguards. Instead, Giancarlo Di Risio, Versace's bespectacled chief executive, presided over an evening that highlighted luxury goods: Parked at one end of the courtyard was a half-million-dollar Lamborghini Murcielago with a black-and-white leather interior by Versace. A huge poster showed an AgustaWestland helicopter with a Versace-designed cabin. Stacked nearby was luggage embossed with the brand's Greek motif, with pieces starting at about $4,000. Mr. Di Risio is trying to shift Versace's attention away from clothes and to accessories, home interiors and other lifestyle products that will bring in new streams of revenue and offset fickle fashion cycles. "Fashion does not exist at Versace," he said, describing his strategy in an interview before the reception. The new approach is bearing fruit. Versace swung back into the black last year, posting a $25.4 million profit after years of losses, and has shaken off millions in debt. Driving that turnaround were rising sales in the lucrative accessories Mr. Di Risio is pushing. Yet the effects of the makeover have touched the core of the company's identity. Ms. Versace has begun taming the flamboyant clothing designs that once set her and the fashion house apart from the crowd. "I no longer recognize myself in that kind of woman," the 52-year-old Ms. Versace said in a telephone interview. The culture shift at Versace highlights how an increasingly competitive fashion industry is forcing even the most freewheeling players to embrace a corporate culture. Many labels, including LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton's smaller brands like Celine and Marc Jacobs, have also been toning down their looks to appeal to a wider swath of consumers. Designers who once called the shots are ceding authority to executives who run the numbers. "In the beginning, it was a shock for me," Ms. Versace said. "When you tell a person who is used to being in power -- to saying yes or no on everything -- to take a step back, it's not easy. But it was necessary." Tweaking a label's aesthetics carries risks. If pushed too far, transformations risk alienating loyal customers, says Robert Burke, head of New York-based luxury-goods consultancy Robert Burke Associates and the former fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman. "You will always want to see a fashion edge to Versace," he says. Yet for family-owned fashion labels like Versace, pressure to make more money is high. They compete with publicly traded conglomerates such as LVMH and PPR SA's Gucci Group, which have the financial heft to expand with stores in the emerging markets of China, India and Russia -- seen as fueling the industry's growth. A number of Italy's top family-owned fashion houses, including Versace, Prada SpA and Salvatore Ferragamo SpA, are considering stock- market listings in the next couple of years. "An IPO would be the best way to raise money and implant in these countries," says Peter Farren, a luxury-goods analyst at the French investment firm Bryan Garnier. At Versace, a sobering realization is spurring Mr. Di Risio's moves: The clothes that once made the brand are now struggling to make money. In its heyday in the early 1990s, Versace stayed ahead of the fashion mainstream with lavish catwalk shows that celebrated the racy designs of founder Gianni Versace. The label amassed collections of real estate and artwork that enhanced the family's jet-setter status. The company found it increasingly tough to squeeze profits out of highly perishable fashions as production costs rose in Italy. In 1997, Mr. Versace was murdered outside his Miami villa. The firm's finances went into a tailspin, and it was forced to shelve plans to go public. Mr. Versace's 50% stake in the label went to his niece, Ms. Versace's then-preteen daughter Allegra Versace Beck, shifting the balance of power. Though Ms. Versace owns only 20% of the company, she was seen to exert huge influence because of her daughter's stake. A third sibling, Santo Versace, owns the remaining 30% of the company. Ms. Versace Beck, now 20 years old, manages her stake with the help of advisers. The Versace stakeholders decided the company needed a CEO who could turn the company around. Fabio Cacciatori, at one time an outside financial consultant for the company, became CEO in September 2003 but resigned in December. The company named Versace's then-Chief Financial Officer Daniele Ballestrazzi interim CEO as it searched for new leadership. When Versace recruited Mr. Di Risio from LVMH's Fendi label in the summer of 2004, the house was saddled with more than $146 million in debt and heading to a net loss of $124 million for the year, on revenue of $416 million. High-end retailers like Bergdorf Goodman had stopped carrying the brand. Bergdorf Chief Executive Jim Gold recalls that Versace was distributing too widely, diluting its exclusivity, and was overly consumed with making a splash on the runway. While many labels had started delivering retailers fresh designs more frequently, ahead of the runway collections, Versace resisted. Mr. Di Risio arrived with a new mantra. Clothing that is too fashionable, he told his lieutenants, is bad for business because it eats up capital and goes out of style quickly. Accessories and other leather goods are a better bet because they have a longer shelf life and fatter profit margins. To reduce Versace's dependence on fashion, Mr. Di Risio shut down lines such as Versace Intimates lingerie and Versace Young, a children's line. The company sold its unprofitable perfume, jewelry and watchmaking divisions, replacing them with lucrative licensing agreements with U.S. watch group Timex Corp. and Italian perfume and cosmetics maker EuroItalia Srl. Mr. Di Risio homed in on the company's shoes and handbags, which have higher profit margins because they cost less to produce than clothes but are easier to sell to a wide array of customers. Last year, more than 30% of Versace's $383 million in revenue came from accessories, compared with 4% when Mr. Di Risio arrived. He also expanded the label's push into home furnishings -- a business that generated sales of $82.5 million in 2006, up 55% from the year before. Versace recently unveiled its "Jet Seat," an aerodynamically-styled leather chair in a high-tech ceramic frame that is sold in Europe for <euro>38,000 (about $50,000). "It was like taking a blank page and rewriting everything," Mr. Di Risio says. To succeed, however, he had to get Ms. Versace on board. She had hoped to resurrect the costly haute-couture fashion shows the label had discontinued before Mr. Di Risio's arrival. But he argued she could more effectively enhance the line's exclusivity by holding showings for individual clients. "I said to Di Risio, 'This is not going to work. This is going to die,'" recalled Ms. Versace. But, she said, "I was wrong, and he was right. We sell more now." Ms. Versace had to become more conscious of how much time and money the label invests in promoting designs at events like the Oscars. Last year, the designer dressed actresses Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman and Salma Hayek and director Robert Altman's wife, Kathryn Reed Altman, who donned a navy-blue sequin gown. This year, however, Ms. Versace limited herself to one gown, designing a rose-colored dress with a sweeping train for best-actress nominee Penelope Cruz. For Versace's ready-to-wear line, Ms. Versace is going for looks she calls "a little more understated." Bergdorf Goodman will carry her designs in the fall for the first time in years. Ms. Versace is also working more closely with retailers, adding four more collections beyond the traditional spring and fall runway collections. These are shown to retailers in private visits, giving them a preview of what to expect. On the financial side, Mr. Di Risio has untangled the company's assets from those of the family, selling property he deemed "nonstrategic" to pay the company's debts. The family's Manhattan townhouse was sold for about $35 million, and its contents went up for auction in 2005. The paintings alone -- including works by artists Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein and Julian Schnabel -- fetched more than $11 million dollars. Flagship stores in New York, London and Milan that Mr. Di Risio described as "decadent and sad," were redone with sleek, minimalist designs. The label, which operates 82 stores and has 35 franchise operations, plans to open more than 10 boutiques by the end of the year, including seven stores in China alone. When Versace opened the doors of its updated Moscow boutique in April, an array of leather bags, belts and shoes greeted customers at the store's lacquered ground-floor entrance. The label's ready-to-wear collection was relegated to the upper floor.
What happens to your previous imaginations when you learn a bit of the truth? I think reading this in 5-7 minutes would be better than listening to the news in a lifteime.Plz don't think I'm a very old person.Just 18.A university student studying English who just cannot sit back and hope. My question is: what percentage of what I say is acceptable to you? This article has three parts: 1.Cultural and general info 2.music and 3.political, so plz read it from the top to the bottom. Hi.I'm Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you. The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don't let you be free.Actually, Iranians would be some of the most liberal people in the world (liberal meaning not obeying laws that they don't like).Thousands of millions of strict rules in other countries, don't even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. That's why you don't understand a few of Iran's laws.In Iran every single house has a sattelite. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, they wear very fashionable clothes.Maybe it's a kind of immitation, but still it's got an unique Iranian style. People wear fashionable scarves to make themselves more attractive and most part of their hair is out, also it's a part of our culture.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics! People do whatever they wish to and some of the things they do, don't fit our culture at all, however it's normal in Iran. You really need to pay a visit to Iran and you'll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It's wonderful. The Iran you know, is related to at least 30 years ago.At present, everything's so great if you don't take unemployment and air pollution into account. So many things have changed so far.I can't even compare Iran with 5 years ago, let alone comparing it with 30 years ago!!!! After all, nearly 65-70% of Iran's population is considered the new generation (The youth) and they've transformed everything. Some people think women don't have any rights in Iran! What would you tell me if I tell you that women are now overtaking Iran? They're treated very well, most of the times they're the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities. They get the best jobs. They've got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money which most husbands cannot afford. (so, they can simply sit in the corner of prison! lol). The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that's just because IN IRAN, such places are usually full of cheeky guys who would cheek girls.I don't think girls would go there, even if they're allowed to do so.As far as I know, not many girls in Iran are interested in football! Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery.Have you ever asked yourself they relate to how many years ago?Just for your information, those are from Afghanistan which was once ruled by those freaks (Taliban).I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are SEPERATE COUNTRIES! and that we're Persian and some Turkish not Arab! And I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other countries in the world. There's nothing mysterious about it!(The media is very good at making scary titles: BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!! IRAN UNDERCOVER!!! This would be enough to scare people away! Iranians are much more educated, intelligent and open-minded than what you think!!! I'm sure you don't know that there are lots and lots of Iranian geniouses and scientists that are all under 25.You don't hear about their discoveries and inventions on TV. A small example is this 17 year old boy who's invented 72 amazing inventions. You don't know that Iranian students and sportsmen are winning gold and silver medals in different compotitions in the world all the time such as robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don't the media talk about them?Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran A few weeks ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and now it's signing treaties with other countries to export it.I digged the news on the internet, but there was no single sign of that. What I found instead? "President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!" The media are injustice. They'd put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they would never talk about facts! Some interesting facts: Iran is the pionier in medicine and genetics and Iranian surgens have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects and many other diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the the best brain and heart surgens are Iranian surgens. The head of Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designer of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian.Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering.Holds the second place in building dams. The 4th highest tower (Milad tower) in the world is in Tehran (which you can visit in the second link). The champion weight-lifter is Iranian. The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians. It'd be the only country that has all 4 seasons during the year simoltaneously. It means that while it's winter in one part of it, it may be summer / spring in another part! And as you all know, Iranian girls are famous for being terrific.Persian rug and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are so famous.Persian culture is now westernised and only a little has survived! According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world for foriegners with Dollars of course not for us! (Cos our rate is different: one Dollar=about 950 Tomans!) Who do you think is building Dubi?Arabs? No my friends, Iranian architectures, engineers and traders funding them, cos they don't think building the same things in Iran would be beneficial for them, Since the media scare tourists away from Iran. There are many other things. And also, Iran is a very independant country. It has nearly all the developed industries and technologies and doesn't need other countries to survive! That's why the unfair U.N sanctions don't bother us! The list is endless. Some charactristics of Iranians would be: Proud, greedy, hard-working, intelligent, ambitious, not realistic, not so religious, not so generous, not punctual, impatient, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly and hospitable. Some people think, Iran's a desert! Iran's a modern country with very beautiful nature and lots of historical places to visit. Please take a look at the following links and see if Iran looks like what you think or not! (Surely it doesn't!) See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true.If you think I've been admiring Iran too much, that's because you'd do the same thing if you were looked down nearly everyday for some false reasons. I think it's better to clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans I chatted with, said in the U.S it's said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The media are good at putting comments. It's easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the T.V screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....I really don't get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us.For example does verbal defence of Palestinians cause them to have a better life? The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it agaisnt Iran. like picking up some specific sensitive phrases from among a long speech (without reffering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and putting so many bad comments on that.No sane person would take it serious. First of all, Iranians don't hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it's not bad.Is it? We hate neither Jews nor Americans. They're both nice people. If their media are fooling them, it's not their fault. If I were in their shoes, I would hate Iran too regarding all the terrible lies they keep hearing about it nearly everyday.Although ordinary Iranians don't care about world affairs, I've got to say that for us Israel is not equal to Jews! Israel is a govt.Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran's parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force the others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?That's so funny. Christians and Jews are both God believers and respectful to us.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing. It means that where you come from and what your religion is, are not important to us at all.And I wonder why some Muslem countries think there's a problem between Shiites and Sunnies. It doesn't make sense in Iran. I wonder Iran is a threat to whom? How is it possible for Iran to nuke somewhere while it doesn't have any nukes?!!!(The media have never been intelligent liars).Has Iran ever attacked any countries? There's no proof on that. That's even what nuclear agency says.Only Iran's oppositions are pulling Iran's leg. What we're doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal and nonsense. Some say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he's said this at all? If you know a little literature, you know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! And he wasn't talking about destroying Israel. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they both could live in peace. They've only told you this phrase not the rest of it and it's mistranslated deliberitely.Iran's always defended itself, but it's not an offensive country. While some countries which have nukes are clearly threatening Iran to nuke her! Good, isn't it? Some say he's said: Holocaust is a myth! again this is a single phrase from among a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so.If 6000000 Jews were killed, that's so terrible, but those 300000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren't important at all! Over 650000 Iraqi people are killed and it's not important! When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran's 690000000 population, it's OK and no one says they're threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima & Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you'd get the point why he's IRONICALLY said it's a mith. Moreover, don't you believe in freedom of speech/mind? Obviousely, some countries are using Iran as a victim to put the blame (their own faults) on Iran. And which country is better than Iran to be a victim? They've made the whole world believe that Iran isn't a peaceful country and represent false image of Iranians by making insulting movies like "300" . I know Americans don't like these either, but what can they do?The media are so biased.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world. Thanks.
How many people would spend about 10 minutes to educate themselves? Because the attitude of people compells me to say all this. See how the media are fooling people? When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran's 69000000 population within two weeks, it's OK and no one says they're threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima & Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Let me predict their next propaganda against Iran: Now that they've let Iran into the negotiations in Iraq, if the level of peace goes up in Iraq, they'll say Iran's co-operated with us to imply that it was Iran's fault that extremists in Iraq were killing each other! And if the level of peace goes down, they'll say Iran didn't co-operate with us! In both cases Iran will be in charge! What a great victim! I wonder when people are going to understand that the media is a political game?! I know Americans don't like these either, but what can they do?The media are so biased.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world. Thanks.
Obviously Explanation Needed by Christian Fashion Designer? Everyone who critiqued Sha' N' Fashion and wrote back a negative response, you need to know your opinion is well appreciated. But listen: 1. Sha' N' Fashion specialize in Summer, Everyday, & Active Wear. That means, some of the clothing (short shorts, short tops, etc.,) are made for the gym. I would not be caught dead in short shorts without tights. Likewise, I wouldn't be caught dead in the gym wearing a dress to the floor to exercise. It might look holy but not conductive to exercising. 2. Some of you thought the clothing looked too much the same. This was done purposely to mix and match outfits to save money. Therefore, one could create a wardrobe with fewer clothing. 3. Some of you thought some items were a bit too expensive. Only if you're looking at a pair of shorts, or a skirt. But you were looking at one of a kind items not made for anyone else, Valentino or Donna Karen would charge a price I cannot speak. No, I'm neither 1of them. Look once more at shanfashion.com.

Bargain hunters come forth and help me find a unique prom dress!? hi i live in the uk and am obsessed with designer clothes. only problem is of course, i can't afford it! but normally i can buy a few vivienne westwood/mcq/comme des garcons clothes when they're in the sale or whatever. prom is this summer, and i would just love a really unique beautiful dress to go in. i've tried looking on sites like yoox and my-wardrobe, but they don't seem to have anything suitable for prom in my price range (no more than £200 really). i have quite pale skin but dark hair, so i think a darker colour like navy or violet would be best, but any suggestions would be great! so if anyone has any ideas of where i can buy a designer prom dress at a bargain price, let me know. or an actual dress they think would look good. i'm a uk size 8 btw. online and shops are great thanks. (and please no one leave comments how i'm superficial or looking for a perfect dress at an impossible dress - just try to help:p) thankyou xx

How many people find this article interesting and informitive and would read it all? Why have women's dress sizes changed so much? I graduated high school in 2000. At the time, I was 120lbs and measured 36-27-38. My grad dress was a size 10. I am going to be a bridesmaid for my friend's wedding this summer. She picked a bridesmaid dress by the same designer as my grad dress. Today, after having a daughter, I weigh 150lbs. My measurements are 36-29-40. I was fitted for a size 8. Yes, that means that even though I am bigger today, I am wearing a smaller size than my grad dress. Why have dress sizes changed so much? It's only been 9 years since my grad!
Ok so I found one... any opinions? http://www.langantiques.com/detail/50-1-1432.html http://www.langantiques.com/detail/50-1-553.html http://www.langantiques.com/detail/50-1-2307.html http://www.langantiques.com/detail/50-1-2138.html http://www.langantiques.com/detail/50-1-1095.html http://www.langantiques.com/detail/50-1-1680.html Ok so I happen to stumble upon a great site for antique brooches. I know this is hard to imagine but I am having a satin ribbon has a hair piece and this will be towards the side of my head as the closure. My dress designer will be making it for me. but I needed to provide the brooch. I like the last one but 3 of them say "snowflake" and I am having a summer wedding. Do they look like snowflakes to you? And which one do you like the most? As much as I would love to take credit actually it was a great girl on here that suggested it.
